Kier Construction is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Preconstruction Manager to lead and coordinate the preconstruction phase of major construction projects and bids. This role is critical in shaping high-quality, competitive, compliant and deliverable tender submissions, while ensuring the seamless transition from opportunity through to project mobilisation. You'll be working collaboratively with estimating, design, commercial, planning, bid, operational and supply chain teams to ensure project solutions are robust, innovative, buildable and aligned to client requirements and business strategy.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Preconstruction Manager, you'll be working within the regional preconstruction team, supporting them in delivering successful bids and project mobilisation. Your day to day will include:
- Leading the preconstruction process from initial opportunity handover through to contract award and project commencement
- Coordinating bid and tender submissions, ensuring technical, logistical, programme, buildability and risk inputs are accurate and competitive
- Overseeing design management activities, working with consultants and design partners to ensure technical information is coordinated and commercially viable
- Developing robust preconstruction programmes, phasing strategies and practical delivery methodologies in collaboration with planning teams
- Managing stakeholder relationships and supporting client presentations, interviews and engagement sessions throughout the preconstruction phase
What are we looking for?
This role of Preconstruction Manager is great for you if:
- You have proven experience in a Preconstruction Manager, Bid Manager, Design Manager, Operations Manager or similar role within the construction industry
- You have strong experience managing preconstruction activities on major building or construction projects across public and/or private sector markets
- You possess excellent leadership and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines effectively
- You have strong understanding of construction methodologies, buildability, logistics, programme development and design coordination
- You hold a degree, HNC/HND or equivalent in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building, Quantity Surveying, Architecture or a related discipline
