Tarmaccers – Tiverton
Our clients are looking for Tarmaccers to join their team in the Tiverton area. This will be a practical, hands-on role that includes a range of tasks such as reactive repairs, patching, winter service operations, and responding to emergency callouts
As a Tarmaccer, you will be responsible for:-
- Spreading hot bitumen, tar, or asphalt
- Compacting the surface using a roller
- Spreading aggregate over road surfaces using a shovel
- Remove damaged paving slabs and kerb stones
- Laying bedding of sand, concrete, or mortar on a prepared foundation
- Laying new slabs or stones
- Filling joints with mortar
- Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with relevant legislation, standards, and safety procedures
- Carrying out reactive and planned maintenance tasks such as pothole repairs, patching, and minor civils
- Undertaking emergency and out-of-hours call-out work on a rota basis
- Maintaining good communication with supervisors, team members, and members of the public
Requirements:
- CSCS Card
- Driving Licence (preferred)
- PPE
- Previous experience in highway maintenance or civil engineering works
- Flexible and willing to participate in a standby rota for emergency and winter maintenance
- Strong awareness of Health & Safety and safe site working practices
- Ability to carry out physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Rate of pay:
£14.00 per hour, depending upon experience
Hours of work:
40 hours per week with time and a half after 40 hours, and Saturdays and double time on a Sunday.
