Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading environmental and sustainability-focused organisation on the appointment of a Health & Safety Officer.
Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, you will gain exposure to a wide range of HSE activities while helping to drive compliance, continuous improvement, and a positive safety culture across multiple sites.
This is a hands-on operational role suited to someone who enjoys being visible on site, engaging with teams, and making a real impact on workplace safety. You will support day-to-day Health & Safety activities across multiple locations, ensuring compliance with legislation, company standards, and best practice while contributing to the ongoing development of HSE systems and processes.
In your new role:
- Support accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
- Lead and coordinate internal Health & Safety audits, inspections, and behavioural safety initiatives
- Develop and review risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and safe systems of work
- Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and Health & Safety training to employees and contractors
- Work closely with operational teams and management to promote a positive safety culture
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across Health & Safety systems, processes, and site standards
- Support external audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance activities
- Manage Health & Safety onboarding and induction processes for new starters and contractors
- Maintain training records and competency matrices across operational teams
- Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of integrated management systems
- Monitor compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures across multiple sites
What you'll need to succeed:
- Experience within a similar Health & Safety role
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations
- Understanding of Health & Safety compliance and risk management principles
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):
- Experience within recycling, manufacturing, logistics, or similar operational environments
- Additional Health & Safety qualifications
- Experience delivering training, toolbox talks, and inductions
- Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 management systems
- Experience supporting continuous improvement and behavioural safety initiatives
