We have a vacancy for a HGV Mechanic based in Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
· Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and scheduled inspections (including 6, 8 and 26-week inspections) on HGVs in line with manufacturer and DVSA standards.
· Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment and technical manuals, carrying out mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic repairs.
· Conduct safety checks and prepare vehicles for annual MOT testing, ensuring full compliance with DVSA and legal requirements.
· Respond to breakdowns and attend roadside or accident-damaged vehicles to carry out repairs when required.
· Complete job cards, service sheets, digital records and compliance documentation accurately and on time.
· Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, within agreed timeframes, and in accordance with health and safety regulations.
· Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
· Liaise with the parts department to ensure correct parts are ordered and used efficiently.
· Report recurring faults, defects and safety concerns to management promptly.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:
· Hold a full driving licence.
· Strong understanding of HGV systems, including engines, transmissions, braking, electrical systems, manufacturer specifications, and diagnostic procedures.
· Knowledge of DVSA regulations, MOT standards, roadworthiness requirements, and workshop health and safety legislation.
· Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills using manual techniques and diagnostic equipment.
· Ability to carry out repairs efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
· Competent in using workshop tools, equipment, and technical manuals.
· Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
· Clear communication skills for liaising with colleagues, supervisors, and parts departments.
· Accurate record-keeping with excellent attention to detail.
· Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and quality.
· Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
· Proactive approach to problem-solving.
· Willingness to learn and keep up to date with new vehicle technologies.
· Flexible attitude towards working hours, including shift work and call-outs where required.
·Class C+E advantageous
