Carlton Technologies Ltd is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Freelance Finance Professional to support the day-to-day finance function of the business. The role will involve managing day to day financial processes, conducting month-end reporting, and maintaining accurate financial records.
The successful candidate will work closely with management and provide hands-on support across transactional finance and reporting activities.
Key Responsibilities
Bank Reconciliation
· Perform regular bank reconciliations across company accounts
· Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly
· Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded in the accounting system (Sage 50)
Invoice Finance Reconciliation
· Reconcile invoice finance accounts and related ledgers
· Monitor outstanding balances and ensure reporting accuracy
· Liaise with invoice finance providers where required
Month-End Processes
· Assist with month-end close procedures
· Prepare journals, accruals, and prepayments
Credit Control
· Monitor customer accounts and outstanding invoices, sending regular statements
· Chase overdue payments professionally and efficiently
· Maintain strong relationships with customers while ensuring timely collections
Purchase Ledger
· Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner
· Match invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes where applicable
· Maintain organised and accurate supplier records
Supplier Payment Runs
· Prepare and process weekly/monthly supplier payment runs
· Ensure payments are approved and processed within agreed terms
· Reconcile supplier statements and resolve queries
Stock Payments
· Manage and monitor stock-related payments
· Reconcile stock invoices and payment schedules
· Support stock accounting processes where required
VAT
· Assist with VAT reconciliations and submissions
· Maintain accurate VAT records in line with HMRC requirements
· Support preparation of documentation for VAT returns
Payroll
· Assist with payroll preparation and processing
· Maintain accurate payroll records and employee information
· Liaise with payroll providers where applicable
Management Accounts
· Support the preparation of quarterly management accounts
· Assist with financial reporting and analysis
· Provide accurate financial data to support business decision-making
Skills & Experience Required
· Previous experience in a finance manager, finance assistant, or bookkeeping role
· Strong understanding of accounting processes and reconciliations
· Experience with Sage 50 and other accounting software and Microsoft Excel
· Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
· Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
· Strong communication skills and a proactive approach
Additional Information
· Freelance/self-employed basis
· Up to 16 hours per week, office-based
· Standard office hours are 9:00am – 5:00pm
· Flexibility available regarding which days hours are worked each week, by mutual agreement and with sufficient notice
· Pay rate to be agreed based on experience and suitability for the role
Pay: £25.00-£30.00 per hour
