Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and meal assembly, ensuring all dishes meet quality standards and dietary requirements
- Support the kitchen team in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in line with food safety regulations
- Help with the safe handling, storage, and rotation of ingredients to prevent waste and ensure freshness
- Serve meals to residents in a friendly, respectful manner, promoting dignity and independence
- Follow all health and safety procedures during food handling and kitchen operations
- Support with basic catering tasks for special events or activities within the care home
- Contribute to maintaining an organized kitchen environment by cleaning utensils, equipment, and work surfaces regularly
Skills
- Previous experience in catering or cooking, ideally within a restaurant or care home setting
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, meal assembly, and food safety practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and interact politely with residents
- Basic understanding of kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
- A proactive attitude towards cleanliness, safety, and resident satisfaction
- Willingness to learn new culinary skills and adhere to health regulations
