Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 4 x Teaching Assistant, Mentor, or similar experienced professional to join our educational team. The successful candidate will support classroom teachers by assisting pupils, facilitating learning activities, and helping to create an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and young people, particularly those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), disabilities, or autism, and will have a strong understanding of the importance of patience, consistency, and positive relationships.
The school is a SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) setting, supporting pupils who may present with challenging behaviours and require additional emotional and behavioural support. The role therefore requires someone who is nurturing, patient, resilient, and able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.

Duties
Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans and educational activities across various subjects, including creative writing and literacy development. Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities or autism, fostering an inclusive learning environment. Support students’ social and emotional development through mentoring and positive reinforcement strategies. Help manage classroom behavior and ensure safety protocols are followed at all times. Prepare instructional materials, adapt resources for individual student needs, and assist with assessments to monitor progress. Facilitate communication between students and teachers, ensuring clarity and understanding. Engage students in creative writing exercises to enhance their expressive skills and encourage their academic growth.
Qualifications
A background in special education or related fields is highly desirable, along with experience working with children and individuals with disabilities or autism. Strong communication skills are essential for effectively supporting students, collaborating with teachers, and engaging parents when necessary. Experience in tutoring or mentoring roles demonstrates the ability to foster positive relationships and motivate learners. Knowledge of teaching strategies tailored for diverse learners is important for adapting instruction effectively. Creative writing skills are a valuable asset for encouraging student expression and enhancing literacy programs. A compassionate attitude combined with organizational skills will enable success in managing multiple responsibilities within a dynamic classroom setting.
