Chief Officer, Volunteer Centre Western Isles
Salary: £31,074 – 34,405 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: Stornoway (job share could be considered)
The Volunteer Centre Western Isles exists to encourage, support and promote volunteering across the Western Isles. We work with volunteers, community groups, charities, public sector partners and employers to strengthen communities and create opportunities for people to make a positive difference where they live.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Chief officer to lead our organisation and support the continued development of volunteering throughout Lewis, Harris, Uist and Barra.
This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of community life in the Western Isles. Working closely with the Board of Trustees, staff team and partner organisations, you will provide leadership across all aspects of our work, ensuring that VCWI continues to deliver high-quality services, support volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations, and remain a strong voice for volunteering locally and nationally.
We are seeking someone who can combine strategic thinking with a practical approach, someone who enjoys building relationships, supporting people and helping organisations thrive.

- Experience of leading and supporting staff or teams.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience of managing budgets and organisational resources.
- Experience of partnership working and stakeholder engagement.
- The ability to think strategically while managing day-to-day operations.
- Experience of project delivery, planning and reporting.
- A commitment to the value of volunteering and community participation.
- An understanding of the voluntary, community or public sector.
