Overview
The Year 5 Class Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning to pupils in Key Stage 2 within a supportive and ambitious independent school environment. The successful candidate will inspire and motivate pupils, promote excellent academic progress, and contribute positively to the wider life of the school.
The postholder will create a nurturing, engaging, and stimulating classroom environment where pupils are encouraged to develop confidence, independence, curiosity, resilience, and a love of learning. They will work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and support staff to ensure every child achieves their full potential.
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons in line with the national curriculum.
- Assess pupil progress and adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Be aware of pupils’ individual capabilities, prior attainment, and learning needs, and differentiate effectively to support and challenge all learners.
- Foster a positive classroom environment where pupils feel safe, valued, and motivated to learn.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external specialists to support pupil development.
- Incorporate tutoring techniques to reinforce learning and address individual challenges.
- Organise activities that promote social skills, teamwork, and confidence among pupils.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and behavioural issues.
- Contribute to the planning of school events and extracurricular activities relevant to children’s holistic development.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience of teaching within Key Stage 2, ideally including Upper Key Stage 2.
- Excellent classroom management skills.
- Experience of planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
- Ability to assess, monitor, and track pupil progress effectively.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Pay: £31,200.00-£33,400.00 per year
