The Role
As a Home Care Assistant, you'll be a trusted, familiar face in your clients' homes, supporting them with daily activities, encouraging their independence, and helping them feel safe, valued and well cared for. An ideal Home Care Assistant should be reliable and caring, with great communication skills, who can build genuine, trusting relationships with the people they support.
Duties will include:
- Assisting with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Supporting with mobility and daily routines in accordance with personalised care plans.
- Providing companionship and emotional support to enhance clients’ quality of life.
- Preparing meals and assisting with feeding if necessary.
- Administering / prompting and reminding of medication as prescribed by healthcare professionals.
- Performing light domestic chores including cleaning and laundry to maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
- Driving clients to appointments or social activities as required.
- Maintaining accurate records of care provided and communicating effectively with the care team.
- Always ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Skills and Experience
· All applicants should hold a full driving licence and access to a vehicle as you will drive between clients’ homes.
· Experience of working in home care, or a care home setting is desirable, however not essential as we will provide full training to the right people.
· You should have excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal to ensure you can interact effectively with clients and colleagues and to ensure you are able to follow detailed instructions and care plans accurately.
· Good IT skills are essential for maintaining documentation and communication records.
· You should have a compassionate nature with a genuine desire to support others’ wellbeing.
· You should be organised and reliable with strong time management skills.
· You should possess the ability to adapt to different client needs and situations with sensitivity and professionalism.
