Join us as our Assistant Accountant, where you’ll be joining a team of 3 based in our offices in Chippenham. You’ll produce accurate and timely Support Function Management Accountants, including detailed variance analysis to support Finance Business Partner review and decision-making. You’ll support in the budget and forecasting process, providing insightful analysis of key overhead expenditure, and identify opportunities to enhance processes and improve financial reporting.
This is a full time, permanent opportunity with 37.5 hours contracted per week. Working Monday to Friday between 08:00 am to 17:00 pm (hybrid, predominately office based).

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Produce accurate and timely monthly Support Function Management Accounts, including detailed variance analysis and commentary for Finance Business Partner review
- Maintain and reconcile Support Function balance sheet accounts, ensuring discrepancies are investigated, resolved promptly, and escalated where necessary
- Support the budget and forecasting process, providing financial information for functional reviews and incorporating approved changes accurately
- Deliver financial analysis and insight on key overhead expenditure, helping stakeholders understand performance and support informed decision-making
- Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, while providing ad hoc support to the Accounting Services team and ensuring issues are escalated in a timely manner
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Proven experience in producing monthly management accounts, including accounting packs and meaningful variance analysis (part qualified)
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across the business
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and company policies, ensuring accurate financial reporting and treatment of transactions
- Highly organised with excellent prioritisation skills, able to work accurately under pressure and consistently meet deadlines
- Proactive and agile approach to continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance processes, efficiency, and reporting quality
