Responsibilities
As a Maths Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting students across in developing their Maths skills — helping them build confidence and understanding in core concepts.
This is a particularly strong fit for candidates with tutoring experience, as you’ll be working closely with students who benefit from targeted academic support.
- Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups across KS3–KS4 Maths
- Support students with special educational needs, adapting your teaching to best support them
- Encourage student engagement through effective communication and personalised support
- Deliver focused interventions for students needing extra support
- Help maintain a safe, organised, and stimulating classroom environment
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers regarding individual development
- Support the organisation of educational resources and materials for science lessons
Seeking Candidates with:
- A degree in a Maths related subject
- Strong A level grades
- Full-time availability from September 2026 to July 2027
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, colleagues, and parents
- Proven ability to tutor, mentor, and motivate students within an educational context
- Knowledge of the UK Maths curriculum
- Patience, empathy, and adaptability when working with diverse learners
- Organisational skills to manage classroom activities and educational resources efficiently
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team dedicated to inclusive education
Highly Desirable:
- Strong Maths tutoring experience (1:1 or small group)
- Previous experience working with secondary-aged students
- Confidence explaining Maths concepts in a clear, engaging way
