About Flowing Body Pilates
Flowing Body Pilates is a growing independent reformer Pilates studio with locations in Stoke Newington and Finsbury Park.
We are known for small-group classes, attentive teaching and seamless, flow-based routines that feel carefully planned rather than assembled as a collection of unrelated exercises.
Our aim is to offer something close to private tuition within a group setting. Students should feel personally noticed, appropriately challenged and warmly welcomed whenever they attend.
We are looking for experienced reformer Pilates instructors who can contribute their own personality and creativity while working within the shared Flowing Body Method.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for instructors who:
- have strong practical reformer Pilates teaching skills;
- have experience teaching group reformer classes, ideally within a reputable studio;
- can confidently teach Beginners and All Levels classes;
- can accommodate different levels within the same session;
- create flowing routines with smooth transitions;
- give students individual corrections, adjustments and encouragement;
- are warm, engaging and genuinely interested in their clients;
- are professional, reliable and open to feedback;
- are willing to continue learning and developing;
- can commit to regular weekly shifts, including at least one weekend shift.
A recognised Pilates qualification is welcomed, but it is not our only measure of ability.
We place significant value on practical teaching skill, experience, in-house development and the ability to deliver an excellent class. Successful instructors must hold appropriate professional insurance before teaching.
The Flowing Body Method
The Flowing Body Method provides a shared framework while allowing each instructor’s individuality to shine.
Our classes are built around:
- planned and coherent routines;
- smooth exercise execution and seamless transitions;
- purposeful use of the reformer throughout the class;
- intensity that builds and eases through active recovery;
- proactive options and layered progressions;
- personal attention for every student;
- warmth, connection and community;
- a recognisable Long Spine finish.
Teachers remain free to express their individuality through their personality, exercise choices, sequencing, cueing style, energy and areas of expertise.
Pay
Group classes are paid as follows:
- Weekdays: £33 per class, plus a £2 full-class bonus
- Weekends: £36 per class, plus a £4 full-class bonus
- Private sessions: £45–£50 per session
This gives a group-class earning range of £33–£40 per class.
What We Offer
- A supportive and welcoming independent studio environment
- Regular weekly shifts
- Opportunities for private sessions and additional classes
- Free class attendance when space is available
- Complimentary practical workshops and continuing education
- Regular feedback and coaching
- Opportunities to grow as the studios develop
- A teaching framework that supports quality without removing individuality
Recruitment Process
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend one of Charles’s reformer classes, followed by a 30-minute interview.
The interview consists of:
- a 15-minute practical teaching assessment, during which the candidate takes Charles through a short reformer flow;
- a 15-minute conversation about Pilates, teaching philosophy and what the candidate is looking for from a studio.
The practical assessment allows us to understand the candidate’s teaching style, sequencing, cueing and reformer knowledge. The conversation helps establish whether our values and approach to Pilates are compatible.
Onboarding and Trial Period
Successful candidates will normally begin approximately two weeks after accepting the role.
Before teaching independently, they will:
- attend one class at each Flowing Body studio;
- complete a practical orientation at both locations;
- receive an introduction to the Flowing Body Method;
- review the Teacher Portal and Studio Procedures;
- provide the required documents and professional information.
The first month will be treated as a supported trial period.
Charles will observe two classes and provide practical feedback. If the trial is successful, the regular shift will be confirmed.
Continuing Development
Teachers who hold at least one permanent weekly shift participate in the Flowing Body Teacher Development Programme.
This includes:
- four approved development workshops each year;
- at least two workshops attended live;
- regular attendance at Flowing Body classes as a student;
- one class observation and coaching conversation each quarter;
- an annual development review.
The programme is provided free of charge as part of Flowing Body’s investment in the teaching team.
