About Us
The Paving Vault is a growing, family run business that has been established for two years. We specialise in supplying paving and landscaping materials to both trade and retail customers. As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and motivated Yard Operative to take ownership of the day to day running of our yard and become a valued member of our team.
This is a hands on role that would suit someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in keeping things organised, and is happy to provide excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
As our Yard Operative, your duties will include:
- Managing the day to day operation of the yard.
- Picking, packing, and preparing customer orders accurately.
- Loading and unloading delivery wagons safely and efficiently.
- Delivering materials to customer sites using company vans.
- Serving trade and retail customers collecting orders from the yard.
- Assisting customers with loading purchases into their vehicles.
- Carrying out stock checks and reporting low stock levels.
- Receiving and checking incoming deliveries.
- Organising and storing stock safely and efficiently.
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe working environment.
- Ensuring products are stored correctly to prevent damage.
- Operating forklifts and other yard equipment (training can be provided for the right candidate).
- Following all company health and safety procedures.
- Carrying out basic maintenance and housekeeping around the yard.
- Working closely with the sales and office team to ensure orders are completed on time.
- Supporting the wider team during busy periods and undertaking other duties as required.

The ideal candidate will have:

- The ability to work independently and manage their own workload.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Good communication skills.
- The ability to carry out manual handling duties.
- A flexible approach and willingness to help wherever needed.
- Previous experience working in a builders' merchant, landscaping supplier, warehouse, or yard environment is desirable but not essential.
Desirable
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential for deliveries).
- Forklift licence (Counterbalance) is advantageous, although training may be provided.
Working Hours
Monday – Thursday
- 8:00am – 5:00pm
- 45-minute lunch break
- 15-minute paid break (taken when business needs allow)
Friday
- 8:00am – 3:30pm
- 45-minute lunch break
- 15-minute paid break
Weekend work is not normally required, although occasional overtime may be available during busy periods.

Pay: £25,420.00-£29,000.00 per year
