Business Development Manager
Circa £60,000 - £70,000 Base + Uncapped OTE + Car Allowance
Poole, Dorset · Hybrid (2 days office / 3 days WFH)
Ferox Partners are recruiting for a Business Development Manager on behalf of an owner-managed and fast-growing Managed Service Provider based in Poole, supporting SMEs and specialist sectors across Dorset, Hampshire and the wider South and South West region.
The Package
- Circa £60,000 - £70,000 base salary, commensurate with experience
- Uncapped OTE with a commission structure that rewards performance
- Car allowance
- Hybrid working: 2 days in the Poole office, 3 days from home
- Full-time, permanent position, reporting directly to the Managing Director
- Direct access to leadership, with no layers and no politics
The Role
This is a driven sales leadership role for someone who wants to build something significant within a genuinely growing, owner-managed business. You will be responsible for generating new business revenue across the South and South West, identifying prospects, opening conversations, qualifying opportunities and converting them into signed clients, while also account managing key relationships alongside the wider technical and service delivery teams.
The portfolio you will be selling is broad and genuinely differentiated: Managed IT support, cyber security services, Cyber Essentials certification, Microsoft Copilot and AI adoption consultancy, VoIP and connectivity. An audit-led approach gives a powerful, low-barrier way into new conversations, so prospects get real insight and you get real engagement.
Ferox Partners are looking for a driven sales leader who knows how to build a pipeline from scratch, thrives on the hunt, and can also nurture and grow client relationships once they're won. MSP background is essential; this is not transferable from a generalist B2B sales background.
What You'll Be Doing
- Developing and executing a structured new business plan targeting SMEs and sector-specific accounts across the South and South West
- Leveraging your existing network and contact book to generate early pipeline momentum
- Qualifying and progressing leads through the sales cycle, from first contact to signed contract
- Leading client-facing discovery meetings and presenting the audit-led proposition compellingly
- Managing and updating the CRM diligently, keeping pipeline, activity, forecast and next steps accurate at all times
- Account managing key client relationships once won, working closely with the wider technical and service delivery teams
- Identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities within the existing client base, working collaboratively with the service delivery team
- Attending relevant sector events, trade bodies and networking forums to build brand presence and referral relationships
- Feeding market intelligence back to the leadership team to help shape product development and positioning
What We're Looking For Essential
- 3-5 years' B2B sales experience gained specifically within a Managed Service Provider environment (MSP background essential, not transferable)
- A demonstrable track record of winning new business, not just managing it
- An established network and contact book in the South or South West
- Confident CRM user; pipeline management is non-negotiable
- Working knowledge of AI tools in a business context
- Full UK driving licence and own vehicle (car allowance provided)
- Able to work hybrid, with 2 days per week in the Poole office
Desirable
- Experience selling Microsoft 365, Azure, Cyber Essentials or managed cyber services
- Sector experience in automotive, manufacturing, construction or estate/property
- Familiarity with MSP commercial structures, per-seat pricing, contract terms, SLAs
- Experience running outbound prospecting campaigns independently
- Exposure to Microsoft Copilot and the ability to communicate AI value to non-technical buyers
The Person
You are commercially sharp, personally credible and professionally restless. You do not wait for inbound, and you do not need to be managed through every step. You understand that trust is the currency of this industry, and you know how to earn it quickly, consistently, and without overpromising. You take your CRM seriously because you understand that an undocumented pipeline is not a pipeline. You are equally comfortable talking to a Managing Director about business risk, a Finance Director about the cost of downtime, and an IT Manager about technical architecture.
Interested?
If you're a credible MSP sales professional ready to build something significant, Ferox Partners would love to hear from you. Apply now with your CV, or get in touch for a confidential conversation about the role.
