Job Title: HGV Driver
Reporting To: Team Leader
Location: Wessington Cryogenics Limited, Houghton le Spring, Tyne and Wear
Overall Aim: We are looking for a qualified HGV driver to transport tanks and goods to x-ray and paint shop daily, duties will be planning efficient routes, conducting walk around safety checks, securing cargo and maintaining legal records for driving hours and delivery logs.
This role has historically been a full time position, however we will consider applicants seeking part time work as well.
Outline of responsibilities:
- Vehicle safety: Perform mandatory daily checks on tyres, brakes, lights, and fluid levels before driving.
- Route planning: Adapt to traffic reports, route diversions, and weather disruptions to meet delivery scheduled delivery times
- Loading & Unloading: supervise or physically assist with loading and being Soley responsible for securing freight and using equipment such as tail lifts and pallet trucks
- Compliance: Strictly adhere to EU rules regarding driving hours, tachograph usage, and the working time directive
Outline of Requirements:
- Licensing: hold a full valid car license, plus the relevant category C (rigid) or category C+E (articulated) heavy goods vehicle licence
- Driver CPC: a valid driver certificate of professional competence (DCPC ) card is required for commercial driving.
- Medical Fitness: Pass required medical assessments to legally operate large commercial goods vehicles.
- May be required to undergo funded f lift training.
