We have an opportunity for a Warehouse Supervisor to join our team in Sherborne.
Overall function and description of the job:
Responsible for Supervising the day to day running of the warehouse and its employees in accordance with all relevant safety procedures and best practises for warehousing and use of forklift trucks. Also responsible for regular racking inspections (as and when required), as well as maintaining inventory and supplies by receiving, storing and delivering items around the site.
Main duties:
· Provide supervision and lead support to those working in the warehouse and packing areas.
· Undertake and report upon racking inspections in accordance to regulatory requirements and Health and Safety good practice.
· Pick goods as specified by production planning for delivery to production departments.
· Working with the Shipping and Warehouse Manager, update and communicate to the warehouse staff regarding what tasks/orders must be completed.
· Supply packing details to shipping and order packing materials.
· Use the company IT systems where and as applicable for the role
· Ensure that packing and packaging is cost effective and suitable for products being handled and/or dispatched.
· Prepare the warehouse for stocktake when required to do so.
· General warehouse administration.
· Deputies as cover for absences at “I-point” when required
· Responsible for ensuring that the warehouse and outside areas are clean and tidy
Specific skills and/or qualifications:
Superior level skills: Confident in supervising a team of employees within warehouse operations; sound knowledge of safe warehouse systems and procedures, racking regulatory requirements and good practice, picking and packing procedures, shipping documentation and I-point practices and procedures and warehousing best practice.
General skills: Ability to self-manage, organise and prioritise tasks in accordance with company expectations; interpersonal skills with the ability to work well both in teams and individually; good verbal and written English language skills; physically fit – required to lift 25kgs continuously throughout the working day.
Basic level skills: Satisfactory numeracy and literacy ability required to complete company records/follow procedures; working knowledge of current health & safety policies and procedures, working knowledge of basic export requirements.
Essential qualifications: Ride-on forklift, pallet and hoist licence; previous warehouse experience.
Shift pattern: 06:00-14:00 & 10:00-18:00
