Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Manager to oversee the daily operations of our childcare centre. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for working with children and supporting their early development. This role involves ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children while maintaining high standards of childcare and organisational efficiency. The Nursery Manager will be responsible for leading a team of staff, liaising with parents, and implementing educational programmes aligned with early childhood education principles.
Duties
- Manage the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with regulatory standards
- Lead, motivate, and supervise nursery staff to deliver high-quality childcare and early childhood education
- Develop and implement engaging activities that promote children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development
- Oversee staff recruitment, training, appraisals, and professional development programmes
- Maintain effective communication with parents regarding their children's progress and any concerns
- Ensure health and safety policies are rigorously followed to provide a secure environment for children and staff
- Organise rotas to ensure adequate staffing levels at all times
- Manage administrative tasks including record keeping, budgeting, and resource management
- Drive community engagement initiatives to promote the nursery’s services within the local area
- Ensure compliance with all legal requirements related to childcare provision
Requirements
- Proven experience in nursery management or early childhood education settings
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire a team
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Working knowledge of childcare regulations and health & safety standards
- Experience working directly with children and understanding their developmental needs
- Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are preferred
- Knowledge of early childhood education frameworks and best practices
- Valid driving licence is desirable for transportation purposes if required by the role
- Ability to organise workload efficiently whilst maintaining attention to detail
- Passionate about child development, nurturing a positive learning environment, and building strong relationships with families
Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
