Site Operator
Position: Full-Time
Location: Hill Barton Industrial Estate, Exeter (EX5 1SD)
Hours:
- Monday–Friday: 6:00am–6:00pm
- Every other Saturday: 7:00am–1:00pm Contract: Permanent
We are seeking a reliable and self‑motivated Site Operator to join our team at our waste wood processing facility. This role is essential to supporting wood processing operations for our biomass power plants and involves working outdoors in a busy yard environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily machine checks and routine maintenance
- Greasing and general upkeep of machinery
- Operating a Loading Shovel and Excavator (practical test required during interview)
- Moving woodchip around the yard for processing
- Loading lorries and feeding material into the screener and shredder
- Operating the shredder
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Communicating with drivers, power plant operatives, and management
- Following all safe systems of work
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience operating a Loading Shovel (2 years preferred)
- Demonstrable experience operating an Excavator (2 years preferred)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Ability to reliably commute to EX5 1SD
- Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask
- A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to work at a fast pace
- Team‑focused mindset
- Agricultural or similar outdoor machinery experience is highly beneficial
