A number of new opportunities have arisen at Blake Morgan for Paralegals and Case Managers in our Regulatory team (rated Tier 1 in legal 500). The team provide a full range of support on our cases, predominantly on behalf of regulators in the healthcare sector. These regulators ensure that the public is protected and standards are maintained by investigating concerns raised regarding the conduct, competence and health of registrants which might impact on their fitness to practice. Positions can be based from our Reading, Southampton or Cardiff offices.
Whilst we welcome applications from experienced Paralegals and Case Managers, we are also keen to hear from those who have gained recent qualification through SQE, LPC or BPC with an interest in fitness to practise litigation. For newly qualified applicants there will be scope for developing into a wider range of work including witness interviews and drafting statements, whilst Case Managers should be able to evidence previous experience in directing and leading investigations.
About the roles
Our Paralegals communicate extensively with witnesses, professional registrants, legal representatives and our regulatory clients. You will be involved in the preparation of cases for hearings before a variety of tribunals. As your experience develops, you will be able to prepare case plans for investigations and draft reports summarising the evidence available, all with the support and under the supervision of your dedicated line manager.
Our Case Managers are experienced investigators who take a more active role in directing and leading investigations. This includes preparing the case plan, assessing the risk and providing advice as to whether an interim order may be appropriate, and having oversight or direct involvement in witness interviews and preparing statements. This will culminate in the Case Manager producing a report and recommendations.
Interested applicants will be assessed against the appropriate role based on qualification and experience. Whilst previous experience of fitness to practice investigations within a healthcare regulatory setting would be highly desirable, we’re keen to receive applications from recently qualified law graduates with an interest in developing skills and experience within the area.
The interview process will start as soon as suitable candidates have been identified. You will be required to carry out an exercise as part of the interview process.
