Café Chef / Cook
Location: Parkgate, Rotherham
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Café Chef / Cook to join our busy and growing café team in Parkgate, Rotherham.
This is a varied, hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys cooking, takes pride in producing great-quality food and enjoys working in a busy, customer-focused café environment.
You will be involved in preparing and cooking our breakfast, lunch and Sunday lunch menus, as well as preparing barista-style coffees and hot drinks and helping with the smooth running of the café.
The Role
You will be responsible for preparing, cooking and serving food to a high standard while maintaining excellent standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and customer service.
You will work both independently and as part of our friendly team, so being reliable, organised and able to work efficiently during busy periods is essential.

- Alternate Saturdays and Sundays
Working Hours
Typical hours are:
- Tuesday to Friday: 7:00am – 2:00pm
- Saturday: 7:00am – 2:00pm when scheduled
- Sunday: 7:00am – 4:00pm when scheduled for our traditional Sunday lunch service
Flexibility to work weekends is essential.
Additional hours may be available to cover holidays, sickness and particularly busy periods, depending on the needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing, cooking and presenting breakfasts, lunches and Sunday lunches to a consistently high standard.
- Preparing food and ensuring everything is ready for service.
- Preparing barista-style coffees, speciality teas and other hot drinks.
- Serving customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and food safety standards.
- Keeping the kitchen and café areas clean, tidy and organised.
- Monitoring stock levels and reporting any shortages.
- Receiving and putting away deliveries.
- Ensuring food preparation areas and equipment are maintained to a high standard.
- Delivering customer orders when required.
- Working efficiently as part of the team to provide an excellent customer experience.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience cooking in a café, kitchen, catering or similar environment.
- Is confident preparing a range of breakfast and lunch dishes.
- Ideally has experience making barista-style coffees and other hot drinks.
- Enjoys working in a busy, customer-focused environment.
- Is reliable, punctual and hardworking.
- Has a positive attitude and good communication skills.
- Can work independently and as part of a team.
- Takes pride in producing quality food and providing excellent customer service.
- Has a good understanding of food hygiene and food safety.
- Holds a Food Hygiene Certificate – desirable but not essential.
