We're currently recruiting an Environmental Team Leader to join a growing environmental services team based in Grays, Essex. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced team leader with driving experience who is looking for a temp-to-perm position with genuine long-term career prospects.
As an Environmental Team Leader, you'll be responsible for leading a small team of operatives, ensuring daily tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You'll be hands-on in supporting the team while helping to keep local communities clean, safe, and well-maintained.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday
Early morning starts (typically 6:00am – 7:00am)
Full-time hours
Duties Include
- Leading and supervising a team of environmental operatives on a daily basis
- Driving a company vehicle to various work locations
- Allocating daily workloads and ensuring work is completed efficiently
- Supporting the team with a variety of environmental duties, including:
- Litter picking
- Fly-tip clearance
- Weed spraying
- Graffiti removal
- Park and grounds maintenance
- General cleansing and environmental tasks
- Carrying out vehicle checks and reporting any defects
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures
- Liaising with supervisors and reporting progress throughout the day
- Promoting a positive team culture and maintaining high standards of service delivery
What We're Looking For
- Full UK Manual Driving Licence (essential)
- HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence is highly desirable, but we are happy to consider strong candidates without an HGV licence who have previous team leading and driving experience.
- Previous experience leading or supervising a team
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual work when required
- Reliable, punctual, and able to motivate a team
- Positive attitude with a proactive approach to problem-solving
