Job Summary
We are seeking a diligent and safety-conscious Banksman to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe movement of vehicles and machinery on site. This position requires excellent communication skills, the ability to build rapport with team members, and a strong understanding of safety protocols. The Banksman will be responsible for directing traffic and ensuring that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Direct the movement of plant and other vehicles on site to ensure safe operations.
- Communicate clearly with drivers and machine operators using hand signals and radios.
- Monitor the work area for potential hazards and take proactive measures to mitigate risks.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of materials, ensuring that all procedures are followed.
- Conduct regular safety checks on equipment and report any issues to management.
- Maintain clear communication with site management regarding operational progress and any incidents.
Requirements
- Proficient in English with strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and contractors.
- Previous experience as a Banksman or in a similar role is advantageous but not essential.
- A valid driver's licence is preferred for driving duties as required.
- Strong awareness of health and safety regulations within a construction or industrial environment.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions when necessary.
