Key Responsibilities/what they’ll be doing (no more than 100 words)
- Responsible for the implementation of the Environmental Management System at contract/ project level to meet the requirements of ISO 14001.
- Ensure M Group Highways contracts and operational activities go above and beyond our Environmental Management System and legislative compliance requirements.
- Support operational teams with environmental guidance and advice and in the production of internal and external reports.
- Liaise with and report on environmental risks and opportunities to the relevant Business/Regional Director for the contract.
- Lead on and deliver the requirements of the M Group Highways Environment and Carbon strategies for the contract/project.
- Ensure M Group Highways is represented in awards submissions, external communications and industry events for environmental and sustainability initiatives.
- Undertake environmental assessments on schemes and projects during the design phase, coordinating the management of environmental risks and opportunities through to delivery.
- Lead and support operational teams with environmental investigations, advising and implementing preventative and corrective actions
- Conducting SHEQ inspections and audits of operational activities both internally and within supply chain
- delivery of environmental awareness training at all levels

- Demonstrable construction industry experience or relevant environmental experience in a similar sector.
- Demonstrable passion for the Environment and Sustainability, driving innovation and an ability and desire to positively influence and develop those around them.
- Effective at engaging operational leadership teams to deliver environmental improvements.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Good communicator and proven experience of delivering environmental improvements.
- Degree level in appropriate Environmental discipline
- Professional membership of ISEP (or equivalent) at the appropriate level.
- Competent IT skills
