About the Role
Construo Recruitment is partnering with a well-established organisation to appoint a Building Surveyor to join their Complex Repairs & Maintenance team on a permanent basis.
Based in Manchester with regional travel, this role focuses on delivering tailored surveying solutions, offering technical guidance, and assessing property condition across a varied portfolio.
You will operate in a dynamic environment, carrying out reactive inspections and managing projects from initial assessment through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out detailed condition surveys, including diagnostic and dilapidation reports, alongside clear technical recommendations
Oversee and deliver refurbishment and investment schemes from feasibility through to completion
Support long-term asset performance through option appraisals and sustainability initiatives
Produce comprehensive specifications to enable successful project execution
Review and confirm investment needs in line with wider asset management objectives
Work collaboratively with internal departments to ensure coordinated project delivery
Monitor project costs, budgets, and overall financial performance
Ensure all works comply with relevant health and safety legislation, including CDM requirements
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders and project partners
Requirements
Strong understanding of building construction, regulations, and compliance standards
Experience managing construction contracts and preparing technical specifications
Knowledge of financial planning, cost control, and project evaluation
Proven ability to deliver cost-effective solutions within construction or maintenance projects
Familiarity with CDM regulations and undertaking associated responsibilities
Able to work independently with strong organisational skills
Confident communicator with experience engaging a range of stakeholders
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Degree-qualified in a building-related discipline or equivalent
Desirable
Experience working on similar planned works or refurbishment programmes
Professional accreditation (e.g. MCIOB, MRICS, MICE)
Project management qualification or equivalent experience
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
