Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and skilled Plasterer to join our specialist heritage construction team. The successful candidate will have strong practical experience in plastering and rendering, with particular emphasis on traditional materials and techniques suitable for heritage and conservation projects.
The role will involve working on a variety of historic, traditional and modern properties, carrying out plastering, lime plastering and associated finishing works to a high standard. While plastering will be the primary trade, the successful candidate will also be expected to undertake other general construction and building works when required to support the wider project.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out high-quality internal and external plastering works across heritage, conservation, restoration and residential projects.
- Undertake traditional plastering and rendering techniques using appropriate materials and methods.
- Apply lime plaster, lime render and other traditional finishes where specified.
- Carry out preparation of backgrounds, including removal of defective materials and preparation of surfaces for plastering.
- Undertake patching, repairs and sympathetic reinstatement of existing plasterwork.
- Complete plaster finishes to a consistently high standard, paying particular attention to detail on historic and period properties.
- Undertake rendering and associated external finishing works.
- Work with traditional materials and techniques while respecting and protecting existing historic fabric.
- Carry out associated building and construction works as required, which may include minor masonry, brickwork, carpentry, preparation works, demolition and general site tasks.
- Safely and effectively use a range of hand tools and power tools, including mixers, drills, grinders, trowels and other plastering equipment.
- Read and work from drawings, specifications and site instructions.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment in compliance with company procedures and health and safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with other trades and site management to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time and to specification.
- Take responsibility for the quality of workmanship and ensure work is completed to the standards expected of a specialist heritage contractor.
Skills & Experience
- NVQ Level 2 in Plastering or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Valid CSCS card appropriate to the role.
- Proven experience as a Plasterer or in a similar construction role.
- Strong practical knowledge of plastering, rendering and surface preparation.
- Experience with lime plaster and traditional plastering techniques is highly desirable.
- Experience working on heritage, conservation, restoration, listed buildings or period properties is advantageous.
- Good understanding of traditional building materials and the importance of using appropriate materials and techniques on historic buildings.
- Competent in the safe use of plastering tools, hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and construction details.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Able to undertake a range of general construction tasks when required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, skilled team.
- Reliable, professional and conscientious approach to work.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to continually develop skills and knowledge, particularly in traditional and conservation-based construction.

Pay: £20.00 per hour
