Job Summary
To be responsible for the supply and inventory levels of components used in all manufacturing activities. To communicate with all Vendors on their delivery schedules and affect change where necessary.
Key duties:
- To be responsible for the component delivery schedules from all suppliers that are your responsibility to maintain effective flow of material
- To negotiate price, terms, batch size, delivery schedules with the vendor
- To action MRP reports in a timely manner – purchase, expedite, defer and cancel
- To liaise with supplier to obtain accurate delivery dates
- To place purchase orders to the MRP reports while at the same time questioning whether this is the right course of action
- To effectively expedite component deliveries in difficult circumstances
- To persuade vendors to defer their deliveries where necessary
- To keep inventory to a minimum without affecting production flow
- To meet with suppliers to discuss delivery performance KPIs
- To ensure the material supply chain needs of manufacturing are meet
- To raise any issues that may impact on the production flow at the earliest opportunity
- To resolve any price queries with the purchase order and invoice
- To liaise with other members of the Operations Team on any issues.
- To research alternative suppliers to improve either quality, price, on time delivery and communications
- To be able to work as part of a team and take on other general office duties as required
- To undertake any other task commensurate with this role
Qualifications:
- Good Educational background and qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in purchasing
- Worked within the electronics industry
- Use of ERP system – Epicor preferred

Pay: £32,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
