About the Role
KASE Care is seeking an experienced and compassionate Female Complex Health Care Assistant to join our team on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave, starting approximately August 2026.
This role will involve supporting a service user with a spinal cord injury and complex health needs within their home in the Walthamstow area. You will act as a Lead Health Care Assistant, working closely within a double-up care package and supporting consistency, high standards of care, and team coordination.
The role includes working fixed, structured shifts, providing stability for both the service user and care team.
Shift Pattern (Fixed Schedule)
- Monday, Tuesday & Sunday
- 9 - 11 hour shifts
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Complex Care
- Provide specialist care for a spinal cord injury
- Recognise and manage Autonomic Dysreflexia (AD) episodes
- Support with cough assist and respiratory management
- Carry out manual bowel evacuation in line with care plans
- Monitor health status and escalate concerns appropriately
Personal & Daily Care
- Support with all aspects of personal care including bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Assist with repositioning to prevent pressure sores
- Promote independence with daily living activities
- Support with nutrition, hydration, and general wellbeing
Lead Role Responsibilities
- Act as a Lead HCA within the package of care
- Support consistency and high standards across the care team
- Provide guidance and support to colleagues during double-up visits
- Ensure care plans are followed accurately and updated where required
- Escalate concerns and provide feedback to management
Additional Duties
- Attend hospital appointments where required
- Maintain accurate care records and documentation
- Respond effectively in emergency situations
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and wider team
Requirements
- Experience:
- Proven experience in complex care (essential)
- Experience with spinal cord injury, AD, cough assist, and bowel management
- Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent preferred)
- Skills:
- Strong communication and reporting skills
- Ability to work confidently in a lead role
- Teamwork within a double-up care setting
- Other Requirements:
- Female applicants only (due to personal care requirements)
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
- Flexibility and reliability
- Full UK driving licence (preferred but not essential)
