North Trafford GP Practice is a large, forward-thinking practice committed to providing high-quality healthcare and positive outcomes for our patients across the North Trafford area. We operate from two sites: Chester Road and Seymour Grove.

We use EMIS Web and DOCMAN as our clinical systems, alongside Accurx to provide a modern digital platform for our patients.
We are looking for a friendly, professional, reliable and motivated GP Receptionist to join our team on a permanent basis. This is an important role within the practice, and we are looking for someone who is committed to building a long-term future with us and becoming a valued and reliable member of our team.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Is confident and proficient in using IT and is comfortable working with computer systems. Experience of EMIS Web, DOCMAN or Accurx would be an advantage, although training can be provided.
- Is a quick learner who is enthusiastic about learning new systems, processes and responsibilities.
- Is flexible and adaptable, with the ability to cover different shifts when required and work across both of our practice locations.
- Has excellent customer service skills and understands the importance of providing patients with a friendly, professional and helpful experience.
- Is confident dealing with patient queries, including handling challenging or sensitive situations calmly, professionally and appropriately.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and is able to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
- Is organised, reliable and able to manage a busy workload while maintaining a high standard of service.
- Is a positive team player who is willing to support colleagues and contribute to the smooth running of the practice.
- Is loyal, dependable and committed to a permanent role, looking to establish a long-term career within the practice rather than a short-term position.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality, GDPR and information governance.
- Is compassionate, respectful and committed to putting patients at the centre of everything they do.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and greet patients and visitors to the practice in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide an excellent standard of customer service at all times, both face-to-face and over the telephone.
- Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and courteously, documenting and redirecting calls where appropriate.
- Book, amend and cancel patient appointments in accordance with practice procedures, ensuring the appointment system operates efficiently.
- Deal confidently and professionally with patient queries, including contacting hospitals and other healthcare providers to obtain copies of letters, laboratory reports and other relevant information.
- Ensure all tasks assigned by GPs and administrative staff are dealt with promptly and within appropriate timescales.
- Work flexibly to support the practice, including covering different shifts when required.
- Work across both Seymour Grove and Chester Road sites as required.
- Maintain clean, tidy and well-presented clinical rooms, reception and waiting areas, ensuring they are appropriately equipped.
- Keep mandatory training up to date and participate in ongoing learning and development.
- Re-stock patient information leaflets and other relevant resources as required.
- Check practice emails daily and regularly monitor the practice general email account.
- Work safely and professionally at all times in accordance with GDPR, relevant legislation, and practice policies and procedures.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure all patients are treated with dignity, respect and compassion.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday:
- Morning: 8:00am – 1:00pm
- Afternoon: 1:30pm – 6:30pm
The successful candidate will be required to work across both practice locations: Seymour Grove and Chester Road.
Weekend overtime also be available.
