Working with the ranger team, you’ll support community engagement activities, volunteering, and visitor experiences at Sandilands. You’ll help deliver events and activities that connect people with nature and wellbeing, while supporting practical conservation work and the management of this unique and evolving coastal landscape.
This role is all about connecting with people; helping everyone feel welcome and involved at Sandilands. Working with volunteers, local communities, and partners, you’ll inspire visitors to discover the site’s wildlife, from breeding waders to migratory birds, and encourage responsible access that helps protect sensitive habitats. By sharing knowledge in a friendly and approachable way, you’ll make a vital contribution to the Trust’s cause of caring for places so that people and nature can thrive, now and into the future.
Hours: 18.75 hours per week
Duration: 6 months fixed term contract
Salary: £13.25 per hour, £12,918.75 annual salary

This role is required to work with vulnerable groups including children and any offer of employment or volunteering is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

What you'll be doing:As our Community Engagement & Volunteering Assistant, you'll support the wider team in helping people connect with Sandilands’ nature, wildlife and heritage. You’ll help deliver engaging community activities and events, inspiring visitors to discover the site’s unique coastal habitats and the species that depend on them, while creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for local people, partners and volunteers to get involved.
You’ll also support volunteers involved in habitat management, wildlife monitoring and other practical conservation work, while sharing your knowledge in a friendly and approachable way.
You'll be based at Sandilands , and alongside community engagement activities, you'll help promote responsible access across the site, encouraging visitors to enjoy their visit while helping protect sensitive habitats through simple actions such as staying on paths and keeping dogs under close control. You may also support practical countryside management tasks and other day-to-day site operations as required.
