Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced cafe assistant to join our small family coffee shop. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food service, barista skills, and excellent customer service. This role involves preparing and serving beverages and food items, maintaining high standards of food safety, and ensuring a welcoming environment for all customers. Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including specialised coffee drinks, adhering to company standards.
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, and other light fare.
- Serve customers efficiently and courteously, taking orders accurately and handling transactions using the point-of-sale system.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas, including counters, equipment, and seating areas.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations at all times.
- Manage stock levels and restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation during shifts.
- Handle customer enquiries professionally and resolve any issues promptly to guarantee customer satisfaction.
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure efficient service delivery.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a cafe assistant or barista within a busy environment.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures.
- Strong barista skills with the ability to prepare a variety of coffee beverages confidently.
- Experience in serving customers with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to assist with food preparation tasks efficiently while maintaining hygiene standards.
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately.
- Good time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during peak hours.
- Organised with a keen eye for detail to ensure consistent quality and cleanliness.
- Flexibility to work during peak hours including weekends if required.
