Electrical & Controls Engineer

- Pay: £15.00 – £17.50 per hour (Dependent on Experience) + Performance/Project Bonuses
- Job Types: Permanent, Full-time (38 hours per week)
- Schedule: 7:30–4:00 Mon–Thur & 7:30–2:00 Fri (Standard) – with the potential for overtime

We are actively growing the business under a dynamic new era focused on going digital, enhancing our machine product line, and performing more research and development work. We are looking for a technically skilled, forward-thinking individual to join our small electrical engineering & fitting team and play a pivotal role in assisting us with this transition.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the assembly and fitting of various electrical components, including the complete wiring and fitting of control panels & systems. Beyond standard assembly, you will play a hands-on role in our modern R&D initiatives—specifically Project Genesis, where we are looking to further enhance our machines by connecting them to the cloud for advanced AI monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Wiring and fitting motors, inverter/soft-start systems, guard switches, e-stops, etc., using a variety of tools and equipment according to required specifications.
- Program, configure, and troubleshoot Inverters and PLCs.
- Demonstrate fluency and understanding of industrial communication protocols, specifically MODBUS RTU.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, identify and solve problems, and assist with a small amount of electrical design work to support our R&D roadmap.
- Establish, organize, and maintain accurate electrical design documentation, schematics, and component specifications for quality auditing and future project reference.
Candidate Requirements
- Formal qualification within a relevant engineering or electrical discipline.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices.
- Proven experience programming/configuring PLCs, Inverters, and working with MODBUS RTU.
- Experience working in a similar manufacturing or industrial automation environment.
- Good problem-solving, communication, and attention to detail.
- Be a strong team player with an interest in working on modern, cloud-connected machine technologies.
