Job Title: Night Porter
Location: Scotland's Spa Hotel, Pitlochry, Scotland
Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / Permanent
Working Hours: 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM (may vary depending on business needs)
Job Overview:
As a Night Porter at the Atholl Palace Hotel, you will be a key member of the overnight team, ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of our guests during night hours. You will also assist with late check-ins, early check-outs, and maintain the cleanliness and readiness of public areas. The ideal candidate will be reliable, professional, and able to work independently with excellent attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Welcome and assist late-arriving guests and facilitate overnight check-ins and early check-outs.
Conduct regular security and fire safety checks throughout the hotel during the night.
Respond promptly and professionally to guest enquiries and requests.
Set up and maintain public areas, ensuring cleanliness and presentation at all times.
Assist with preparation and service of early breakfasts where applicable.
Handle basic maintenance or housekeeping issues during the night, escalating when necessary.
Ensure guest confidentiality and data security at all times.
Support other departments as needed to ensure smooth hotel operations overnight.
Person Specification:
Essential:
Previous experience in a similar role or customer service environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
High level of initiative and the ability to work unsupervised
Physically fit – able to lift luggage and perform manual tasks
Professional appearance and conduct
Right to work in the UK
Desirable:
First Aid or Fire Safety training
Experience using hotel booking systems (e.g., Opera, Protel, or similar)
Knowledge of the local area to assist with guest enquiries
