About the Role
We are recruiting a Senior Permanent Makeup Technical Trainer & Educator, specialising in Korean PMU methodology, to lead the development and delivery of advanced permanent makeup education. This is a senior technical and educational position beyond delivering training, the successful candidate will own curriculum development, set technical standards, diagnose complex healed outcomes, train other trainers, and carry quality-assurance responsibility across the education function.
Our methodology emphasises skin integrity, controlled implantation, individualised technique selection and predictable, aesthetically appropriate long-term fading, rather than treating maximum pigment longevity as the measure of a successful result.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver advanced practical and theoretical PMU education across nanobrows, powder brows, microblading and lip blush, in person and online, including live-model demonstrations.
- Train and mentor less experienced trainers and artists, and lead technical standards across the education function.
- Assess artist and trainer competency and progression; review portfolios and healed outcomes.
- Diagnose technical issues from healed results and provide corrective training following poor or excessive retention, colour shift or healing complications.
- Own and approve curriculum development, structured assessment frameworks, technical manuals and treatment protocols.
- Lead technical evaluation of new pigments, machines and needle configurations.
- Take responsibility for quality assurance and consistency of standards across in-person and online students.
- Liaise directly with Korean PMU educators, artists and manufacturers, and translate Korean technical methodology into structured English-language education.
- Deliver advanced workshops, seminars and online education, and contribute to specialist programme development for UK and international artists.
Essential Experience
- Minimum ten years' professional PMU / micropigmentation experience, with extensive hands-on treatment experience across hyperrealistic nanobrows, powder/ombré brows, manual microblading and lip blush. Candidates whose practice is focused predominantly on a single discipline will not meet the requirements of this role.
- Substantial experience reviewing healed PMU results and diagnosing the technical cause of unsatisfactory outcomes.
- Substantial experience training, mentoring or developing other professional PMU artists, including trainer development.
- Formal training and extensive practical experience in Korean PMU techniques and philosophy.
- Experience designing or managing training programmes and setting technical or quality standards.
- Experience assessing and managing existing, aged or technically challenging PMU cases, including determining whether correction, colour adjustment, removal, fading before treatment, or no further implantation is appropriate.
- Advanced knowledge of PMU pigments, machines and needle systems, and strong knowledge of infection control and professional studio standards.
Korean PMU Technical Expertise
The Senior Trainer must be able to explain the reasoning - not only the technique - behind depth, pressure, pigment and saturation decisions, and to diagnose whether an unsatisfactory outcome results from technique, pigment selection, depth, skin response, equipment or aftercare. Advanced discipline-specific expertise is required across:
- Hyperrealistic nanobrows - stroke architecture, directional pattern and brow-spine construction, needle and machine configuration, and prevention of blurred or expanded healed strokes.
- Powder/ombré brows - pixel and gradient control, border softness, and long-term healed appearance.
- Manual microblading - blade configuration, scar-risk assessment, and the transition point to machine technique.
- Lip blush and neutralisation - melanin and undertone assessment, neutralisation, layering and prediction of long-term colour behaviour.
- Corrective assessment of existing PMU — identifying excessive saturation, deep implantation, migration, inappropriate colour or scar tissue, and determining the appropriate corrective pathway.
Language Requirements
Professional fluency in Korean and English is essential. This is a functional requirement of the role: reviewing Korean-language technical and educational material, liaising with Korean PMU educators and manufacturers, participating in professional Korean-language technical discussion, and accurately interpreting Korean methodology for English-speaking students and trainers. General conversational proficiency alone is insufficient.
Qualifications and Portfolio
- Professional PMU qualifications and Korean PMU training or certification (or clearly evidenced equivalent professional experience).
- Trainer, assessor or education-leadership experience.
- Relevant infection-control and health and safety training; assessor qualifications desirable.
- A substantial portfolio evidencing healed - not predominantly immediate post-treatment - work across all four core disciplines and a range of skin tones and types, including at least one technically challenging or corrective case.
Recruitment Process
Shortlisted applicants will be asked to complete a portfolio and healed-case review, technical interview, skin- and pigment-theory assessment, practical assessment, live teaching demonstration, and Korean and English technical-language assessment. Appointment is subject to demonstrated competency across all four treatment disciplines and the technical and educational requirements of the role.
Pay: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
