About Us
Kelleher Group Maintenance Ltd is an expanding M&E, Gas and Specialist Works contractor providing reactive and planned maintenance services.
We are looking for a reliable and organised Purchasing & Stores Assistant to support our Purchasing Manager with the day-to-day purchasing, materials and stores requirements of the business.
This is a varied, hands-on position combining administration, purchasing support, stock management and practical duties within our stores/warehouse area.
The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working in both an office and stores environment and will occasionally be required to drive on behalf of the business. Therefore, a full, valid UK manual driving licence is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Working closely with the Purchasing Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the purchasing of materials, parts, tools and equipment required for jobs
- Raising and processing purchase orders
- Contacting suppliers to obtain prices, check stock and confirm delivery times
- Helping to ensure materials are ordered and available in time for scheduled works
- Receiving and checking incoming deliveries
- Putting away stock and keeping the stores and warehouse areas organised
- Carrying out regular stock checks and assisting with maintaining appropriate stock levels
- Preparing and picking materials for engineers and operatives
- Assisting engineers with the collection and loading of materials where required
- Processing returns and assisting with supplier refunds and credits
- Keeping accurate records of materials ordered, received, returned and issued
- Updating our internal job management system with relevant purchasing and materials information
- Liaising with engineers, office staff and other departments regarding material requirements
- Communicating with suppliers regarding orders, deliveries, shortages and lead times
- Assisting with general administrative duties within the purchasing department
- Responding to telephone and email enquiries
- Collecting or delivering materials and parts when required
- Supporting the Purchasing Manager with reports and other day-to-day tasks
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised stores/warehouse area
- Assisting with general manual handling and lifting duties within the stores
About You
We are looking for someone who is dependable, organised and willing to get involved wherever needed.
The successful candidate should:
- Hold a full, valid UK manual driving licence – essential
- Be comfortable carrying out manual handling and lifting as part of the role
- Be confident using a computer and have basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and email
- Have good organisational and time-management skills
- Be punctual and reliable
- Have good written and verbal communication skills
- Be comfortable speaking with suppliers, engineers and other members of the team
- Be able to follow instructions accurately
- Be willing to learn and take on new responsibilities
- Be able to work effectively in a busy and reactive environment
- Have good attention to detail
- Be able to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- Be comfortable working independently as well as part of a wider team
- Have a proactive approach and be willing to assist with both administrative and practical tasks
Previous experience within purchasing, stores, warehousing, construction, maintenance or a similar environment would be beneficial but is not essential, as training can be provided.
Working Environment
This is a varied role and would suit someone who does not want to spend their entire working day sitting behind a desk. You will divide your time between supporting the Purchasing Manager with administrative duties and helping with the practical running of our stores and stock areas.
Our working environment can be fast-paced and reactive, so you will need to be comfortable adapting to changing priorities throughout the day.
Please note: This is a fully office/site-based position in Bexleyheath and is not suitable for remote or home working.
Pay: From £26,436.80 per year
