The role
We are seeking a capable, grounded Ecological Consultant or Senior Ecological Consultant who can contribute confidently from day one. You will deliver high‑quality ecological assessments, lead and support surveys, manage projects, and provide clear, defensible advice to clients.
You will work across a varied portfolio including development, land management, restoration, BNG and infrastructure projects. This includes species surveys, site works, watching briefs and PMW.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading and contributing to ecological surveys, including protected species work
- Producing high‑quality reports such as PEAs, PRAs, EcIAs, mitigation strategies and licence support
- Managing projects from instruction to delivery with clarity and accountability
- Providing pragmatic advice to clients, planners and regulators
- Supporting junior team members and contributing to a respectful, professional team culture
- Working flexibly across the UK, including occasional nights away
What we’re looking for
- Demonstrable experience in ecological consultancy
- Strong survey skills and confidence leading protected species work
- Competent report writing with the ability to produce clear, defensible outputs
- Understanding of planning policy, BNG, mitigation and licensing
- A calm, professional communicator who engages confidently with clients and regulators
- Someone who values fairness, clarity and doing things properly
- Full UK driving licence
