We’re an independent coffee shop looking for a confident, experienced individual who leads by example, inspires their team, and takes ownership of responsibilities. We are only considering full-time candidates who can work 40 hours a week, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
This is a hands-on leadership role in an independent specialty coffee shop where you will support the day-to-day running of the store, lead shifts, and help drive team performance and customer experience. You’ll work closely with Supervisors to maintain exceptional standards across all areas of the business.
Please note: We will not consider applications with less than 2 years of specialty coffee experience and prior leadership responsibility.
In this role, you will:
- Lead shifts confidently, ensuring smooth, efficient operations at all times.
- Support Supervisors in overseeing daily store performance and targets.
- Oversee junior and senior baristas and ensure the team is performing at a high standard and following all health and safety procedures.
- Take responsibility for opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and end-of-day reporting.
- Maintain exceptional standards in coffee quality, food preparation, and presentation.
- Train, coach, and develop baristas and supervisors, ensuring consistent skill progression.
- Act as the point of contact in the absence of the Supervisor.
- Monitor stock levels, supervise ordering, and manage stock control systems.
- Analyse sales patterns, meet KPIs, and contribute ideas to improve performance and customer experience.
- Ensure all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards are strictly followed.
- Handle customer feedback professionally, resolving issues efficiently and positively.
- Drive upselling and ensure the team maximises sales opportunities.
- Build the staff schedule, oversee break management, and floor positioning during busy periods.
- Maintain high team morale, fostering a positive, supportive, and accountable work culture.
- Ensure all operational checklists, audits, and compliance requirements are completed accurately.
- Lead by example on the floor; delivering outstanding coffee and customer service consistently.
Must Have:
- Minimum 2 years of specialty coffee experience
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in a coffee shop or hospitality setting
- Strong knowledge of espresso extraction, dial-in, and latte art
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- Confident handling responsibility in a fast-paced environment
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week)
Desirable:
- Experience in stock ordering and inventory management
- Experience in scheduling and organising people
- Understanding of KPIs, sales targets, and hygiene standards
- Food hygiene certification (Level 2 or above)
