Job Description
To support the Communications & Engagement Lead in delivering the charity's communications, sales, fundraising, community engagement and operational activities. The role will be primarily based at the Bishop Auckland Community Shop but will support services across all Cornerstone locations. The postholder will coordinate furniture donations, collections and deliveries across the charity, assist with fundraising and community events, support social media and promotional activities, undertake administrative duties, and help ensure the smooth operation of retail, fundraising and community engagement activities. The role requires flexibility and a willingness to work across multiple sites, providing operational support and cover where required.
Working Pattern
· 20 hours per week.
· Four 4-hour shifts Monday to Friday.
· One 4-hour shift on Saturday.
· Hours may vary to support fundraising events, community activities, collections, deliveries and operational needs.
· Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
Sales & Shop Operations
· Support the day-to-day operation of the Bishop Auckland Community Shop.
· Provide excellent customer service to customers, donors and visitors.
· Process sales and maintain accurate records.
· Price, display and organise stock.
· Maintain a clean, welcoming and professional environment.
· Support the promotion and sale of products through both in-person and online channels.
Donations, Collections & Deliveries
· Act as a central point of coordination for furniture donations, collections and deliveries across all charity services.
· Respond to enquiries relating to donated items and furniture sales.
· Arrange collection and delivery schedules with customers, donors, staff and volunteers.
· Maintain accurate records of donations, collections, deliveries and sales.
· Liaise with workshop, housing and support teams regarding furniture requirements.
· Assist with loading, unloading and moving furniture where required.
· Help maximise income generation through effective management of donated stock.
Communications & Social Media
· Assist with the creation and scheduling of social media content.
· Promote services, fundraising activities, events, sales and community initiatives.
· Take photographs and create content showcasing the charity's work.
· Support online sales platforms and community advertising.
· Respond to enquiries received through social media and online platforms.
Fundraising & Community Events
· Assist in the planning, organisation and delivery of fundraising events.
· Support community engagement activities and promotional campaigns.
· Represent the charity at local events, markets and community activities.
· Assist with event setup, staffing and pack-down.
· Help identify opportunities for fundraising, sponsorship and community involvement.
Administration & Operational Support
· Provide administrative support to the Communications & Engagement Lead and wider management team.
· Maintain records, spreadsheets and monitoring information.
· Assist with data entry, reporting and general office duties.
· Support volunteer coordination where required.
· Assist with stock monitoring and ordering.
· Support other departments with administrative and operational tasks as required.
Cross-Service Support & Cover
· Provide support across all Cornerstone sites when required.
· Assist with staff and volunteer cover arrangements where appropriate.
· Support the delivery of projects, events and activities across the organisation.
· Undertake reasonable additional duties consistent with the role and grade.
