Mathnasium is the world's leading specialist maths learning centre, helping children of all abilities—from those who need extra support to those who want to stretch themselves—develop confidence, enjoy maths and discover what they're capable of.
I'm excited to be opening the first Mathnasium in Bishop's Stortford this September and I'm looking for someone exceptional to help me build a centre that children love attending, parents enthusiastically recommend and our local community is proud to have.
This isn't just another Assistant Manager role.

We'll be launching the centre together. Initially you'll spend plenty of time working directly with children, learning the Mathnasium method and getting to know our families. As the centre grows, you'll gradually take on more leadership responsibility—supporting instructors, helping grow the business and becoming a key part of its future.
We'll both be learning too. While I bring experience of building successful education businesses, we'll be learning the Mathnasium system together and continually looking for ways to make our centre even better.
The role is varied. One day you might be helping a child have their "lightbulb moment", the next you'll be talking to parents, organising local marketing, visiting schools, coaching instructors or solving whatever challenge the day brings.
As the business grows, there will be opportunities to take on increasing responsibility, including progressing into a Centre Manager role. I can't promise exactly when that will happen—it will depend on your performance and the growth of the business—but I can promise that I'll invest my time in helping you develop and succeed.

Creating an Outstanding Student Experience
Helping every child feel welcome, supported, challenged and proud of what they achieve.
Building Trusted Relationships
Creating genuine relationships with parents through honest communication, empathy and exceptional customer service.
Leading and Supporting the Instructor Team
Helping recruit, train, coach and motivate a fantastic team that delivers an outstanding learning experience.
Growing the Centre
Helping more local families discover Mathnasium through community engagement, local marketing and building relationships with schools and other organisations.
Operational Excellence
Helping the centre run smoothly, professionally and efficiently every single day.
Who I'm looking for
Your experience matters, but it's only part of the story. I'm just as interested in the person behind it.
You might be at the beginning of your career, looking for your next challenge or considering a completely different direction. Your background doesn't matter nearly as much as your attitude.
You're someone who genuinely wants to make a difference and gets excited about helping children succeed.
You're equally comfortable chatting to a Reception child, reassuring a nervous Year 6 pupil, encouraging a GCSE student or talking with parents and grandparents. You're friendly, bright, professional and bring positive energy wherever you go.
You're ambitious—not just for yourself, but for what we can achieve together and, most importantly, for the children we work with. You're happy to roll up your sleeves, take ownership, solve problems and do whatever needs doing to make the centre a success.

To be successful in this role, you'll also need:
- Strong maths skills, including A Level Maths (or equivalent).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Confidence speaking with people, both face-to-face and on the phone.
- To be organised, dependable and comfortable juggling a variety of responsibilities.
- A willingness to learn, embrace feedback and always look for ways to improve.

This is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week.
Because most of our students come to us after school and on Saturdays, you'll need to be available to work until 7.30pm on weekdays and 10.00am–2.00pm on Saturdays as part of your regular working week.
As this role involves working with children, employment will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
A little about me
I've lived in and around Bishop's Stortford for almost 20 years and have raised my family here, so I'm excited to be bringing Mathnasium to the local community.
I have a degree in Management Studies with Statistics, and my career has taken me from large corporate organisations to building and running a successful children's nursery here in Bishop's Stortford. Those six years in education, together with my own experience of a single maths teacher changing the course of my life, reinforced my belief in the difference great teaching and supportive role models can make to a child's confidence and future.
I'm ambitious about what we can achieve, but I also know that great businesses are built by great teams. I'm looking for someone who shares my passion for helping children thrive and wants to build something we'll both be proud of.
