About the role
As a Technical Supervisor, you’ll ensure the safe and efficient delivery of Mechanical and Electrical maintenance activities across the Dartford River Crossing and tunnel.
Managing a team of M&E Maintenance Technicians and overseeing the work of subcontractors, you’ll help maintain the safety and compliance of all work activities, conduct site visits, carry out regular briefings and debriefings, and contribute to the development of risk assessments and method statements.
You’ll also play an active role in driving continuous improvement, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring resource allocation aligns with operational needs. Your effective leadership will support the long-term success of the M25 network, ensuring it remains safe, resilient and in top condition.
The role follows a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern, rotating equally between 4 day shifts and 4 night shifts.
What you'll be doing
- Maintain expert knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems at the Dartford River Crossing and tunnel.
- Manage work activities efficiently, prioritising methodology, safety, and timely completion.
- Collaborate with M&E staff and subcontractors to resolve issues related to methodology and safety, ensuring safe execution of works.
- Prepare and deliver work briefings on methodology, hazards, and control measures.
- Conduct detailed debriefs after each shift to identify issues and integrate lessons learned.
- Review reports, identify priorities, and conduct pre-site inspections for planning. - Keep accurate records of completed work, resources used, and cost allocation for accountability to clients.
- Oversee fleet management and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Promote Zero Harm objectives by enhancing safety culture and risk awareness.
- Lead by example to meet safety standards and ensure compliance with procedures.
- Contribute to the improvement of risk assessments and method statements. - Engage the workforce in identifying gaps in risk assessments and provide feedback for improvements.
- Report issues affecting safe network operation.
- Manage people-related tasks, including performance monitoring and staffing schedules.
- Foster growth and development through feedback and training.
- Maintain open communication within the team, including regular toolbox talks.
- Encourage continuous improvement and explore cost-saving opportunities.
- Support sustainability objectives by aligning maintenance activities with environmental best practices.
Who we're looking for
- Mechanical or Electrical qualification
- CSCS Supervisor card and SSSTS or SMSTS
- Experience in highways or tunnel M&E maintenance (including HV/LV systems and pumps)
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and compliance requirements
- Proven experience leading teams and managing subcontractors
- Good IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Full UK driving licence
