As the Inclusion Base Room Leader, you will manage a specialized learning environment designed for pupils with complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, or behavioural challenges. You will lead, guide, and deploy an accompanying Teaching Assistant within the room, working as a dynamic team to deliver tailored academic and emotional interventions. Your goal will be to provide a safe, highly structured haven that fosters confidence, manages crisis with patience, and ultimately helps children successfully access school life and reintegrate into their mainstream classrooms.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Inclusion Base Room, including the line management and deployment of another Teaching Assistant.

Create and maintain a calm, safe, and nurturing environment optimised for sensory regulation and focused learning.

Deliver tailored interventions (academic, social skills, and emotional literacy) aligned with pupils' individual targets (IEPs/EHCPs).

De-escalate challenging situations with resilience, patience, and a trauma-informed approach.

Collaborate closely with the school SENCo, class teachers, external agencies, and parents to build a strong web of support around each child.
We are looking for someone who has:

A Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent/higher).

Significant experience working with primary-aged children with complex SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs.

Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to guide and motivate another staff member.

Outstanding de-escalation skills and a deep understanding of barriers to learning.
