The HR Team at Montagu Evans enables to the business to deliver its objectives by providing the right people at the right time. It is a dynamic and vibrant team of 10, covering the full spectrum of HR activity (including Recruitment and Payroll).
The HR Assistant plays a vital role in delivering a seamless and high-quality people experience across the full employee lifecycle. This role is often the first point of contact for employees so acts as an ambassador for the team representing the employee experience at the firm. This role provides operational HR support to the business, with a strong focus on onboarding, HR systems and data, early careers professional qualification administration, L&D administration, payroll & benefit support, and maintaining accurate HR systems and data.
Working closely with the whole HR team, and teams across the firm, the HR Assistant ensures consistent, well-structured processes that enhance the employee journey from entry to progression. This role requires strong organisation, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset to continually improve how the HR function supports Montagu Evans’ people and culture. As a business we are going through a period of growth and change. Our HR team is central to this, with many large scale projects and needing to look to the future on improving HR processes and the employee experience through data and AI.
The successful candidate will commence by Monday 14 September 2026.
Responsibilities:
Onboarding

Manage the full onboarding experience, including issuing contracts and onboarding packs, co-ordinating induction programmes with internal stakeholders, running the HR induction and ensuring completion of mandatory training sessions.

Supporting the Early Careers Talent Manager to design, manage and support delivery of the induction programme for all Early Careers cohorts.

Liaising with IT and internal teams to ensure new joiners have all required equipment, access, and resources.

Proactively ensures all stakeholders are kept up to date with a new starter’s onboarding
Employee Lifecycle Administration

Prepare and issue documentation across the full employee lifecycle, including new joiners, including coordination of onboarding packs, promotions, contractual changes and leaver documentation).

Coordinates the post-hire Early Careers journey, including APC enrolment, mock assessments, performance reviews and feedback cycles

Provides high-quality administrative support across HR activities contributing to the efficient running of the HR function and continuous improvement of processes
HR operations, systems, data and automation

Takes ownership of maintaining accurate employee data, ensuring records are updated promptly and consistently throughout the employee lifecycle

Uses Cascade and Qlik (dashboards) to input and align HR data, generate reports, and maintain accurate employee records, ensuring data is accurate, complete and reliable

Drive the optimisation of automated workflows in Cascade, ensuring HR processes scale effectively in line with firm growth

Maintain and improve system-driven trigger points and data capture (e.g. absence management thresholds, probation alerts) to ensure timely and accurate HR actions

Champion data integrity by regularly reviewing system accuracy and ensuring clean, reliable, consistent HR information as the one source of truth,

Process data in line with the firm’s privacy notice and data protection legislation, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Support

Support monthly payroll activity by ensuring accurate data flow into payroll cycles and assisting with reporting requirements.

Provide general administrative support across benefits and reward processes as needed.
Learning & Development

Support the coordination of L&D programmes, including planning, coordination, communication and evaluation activities.

Coordinate and assist with the rollout of development programmes for Early Careers, in collaboration with APC Success and the CPD committee

Analyse annual review data to identify themes that inform evolving L&D priorities.
This role will also provide ad hoc support on HR projects that occur, supporting team members during absences and being an ambassador of the firm’s culture internally and externally.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience of working in an HR department

Experience within professional services is advantageous
