Job Summary
GEA are looking for a Graduate on a 11 month contract to provide site support to the Geotechnical team, attending sites across London and the South East responsible for sampling and site surveys as well as providing office support. The role would suit someone who has recently graduated in geology, geography or related discipline and is happy to attend site circa four days a week in all weathers or someone looking to complete an internship.
The majority of our sites are located in London in the southeast. please note that a key feature of the role is it you'll be required to have a valid manual driving licence and access to a vehicle The is based in our Ware offices SG12 .
What You’ll Do:
- Liaise with the project support and engineering teams about site visits
- Update the project management system
- Ensure that site visits happen in a timely manner and readings and reports are updated onto the project management system
- When required take samples to our outsourced lab function for analysis
- Collate project documentation including processing drilling records and laboratory test results
- Maintain the safety log for on-site engineers
- Ad hoc tasks and support
About you:
- Graduate or undergraduate with a degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geography or Civil Engineering, Minimum 2:2
- Proven proficiency with CAD software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation, and system design tools ( or similar)
- Experience with land surveying techniques and GIS platforms such as ArcGIS.
- Understanding of geotechnical principles, construction processes, and civil engineering practices.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively within tight deadlines
- Good mathematical skills with experience using Mathcad or similar programmes for technical calculations.
- Prior experience in construction or civil engineering environments is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in technical documentation.
- Manual driving licence and own car (business mileage when required will be paid at 55p per mile)
- Demonstrable experience of MS Suite of Products
