Duties
- Operate heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), including flatbed trucks, to transport goods to designated destinations
- Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately and on schedule, adhering to delivery routes and timeframes
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to guarantee safety and compliance with regulations
- Secure cargo properly on flatbeds, ensuring load stability during transit
- Maintain detailed records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance reports
- Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies during driving operations
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery statuses or any issues encountered en route
Requirements
- Valid HGV driving license with a clean driving record
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, particularly with flatbed trucks or similar heavy vehicles
- Delivery driver experience demonstrating punctuality and customer service skills
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards for commercial driving
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as securing loads on flatbeds and lifting cargo when necessary
- Strong navigation skills and familiarity with GPS systems or route planning tools
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with dispatchers and clients effectively
