About the role:
Are you organised, curious and looking for an opportunity to begin or develop a career in transport and logistics?
We are looking for an ambitious individual to join our transport team in a development role that provides hands-on experience across different areas of transport operations.
You do not need previous specialist experience. You will work closely with our Operations Manager, Transport Supervisor and Route Planner, gaining practical experience in transport planning, driver coordination, compliance, fleet administration, operational reporting and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Driver and Transport Administration
- Conducting Return to Work interviews.
- Processing driver holiday requests and absence records.
- Reviewing and authorising driver timesheets.
- Managing PCN administration.
- Supporting driver communications.
- Assisting with health and safety, compliance documentation and record-keeping.
Transport Operations
- Supporting the daily transport operation.
- Investigating delivery issues and customer queries.
- Producing operational reports.
- Identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Supporting transport compliance.
Route Planning:
- Monitoring daily order volumes.
- Helping to ensure routes remain up to date.
- Coordinating planning changes with the warehouse.
- Supporting efficient workflow throughout the picking operation.
- Assisting with route optimisation and planning activities.
As your training progresses, you will take increasing responsibility for preparing the weekend operation, including:
- Planning Saturday deliveries.
- Producing the initial Monday delivery plan for confirmed customer orders.
- Coordinating with the warehouse to maximise Saturday order picking.
- Preparing a structured handover for the Route Planner.
As your experience develops, you will also be trained to provide holiday cover for our Route Planner, giving you valuable experience in planning and managing a live transport operation.
