Job Purpose
The Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and housekeeping throughout the waste recycling facility. The role is vital in ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient working environment for all employees and visitors while supporting compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Working Hours
This role operates on a rotational shift pattern:
- 6:00am – 2:00pm
- 2:00pm – 10:00pm
- 10:00pm – 6:00am
Flexibility to work across all shifts is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain factory production areas, welfare facilities, offices, canteens, toilets, and changing rooms.
- Empty bins and dispose of waste in accordance with site procedures.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wash floors as required.
- Ensure walkways, stairways, and communal areas are kept clean and free from hazards.
- Replenish cleaning and hygiene supplies as needed.
- Operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
- Report maintenance issues, hazards, or damaged equipment to management.
- Follow all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Support housekeeping standards across the recycling facility.
- Assist with deep cleaning activities and scheduled cleaning programmes.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work within an industrial environment.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
Desirable
- Previous industrial or factory cleaning experience.
- Experience using commercial cleaning equipment.
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
