About the Role
We are seeking dedicated, compassionate and skilled Support Workers to join our 24‑hour supported living service for an individual with learning disabilities. The ideal candidate will have strong experience, solid knowledge of learning disability support, and a genuine commitment to promoting independence, dignity and quality of life.You will work as part of a consistent team providing day and night support, ensuring the individual receives safe, person‑centred care that empowers them to live a fulfilling and meaningful life within their own home.
Key Responsibilities Provide personalised, strengths‑based support that promotes independence and choice
Deliver safe and effective 24‑hour care including personal care, daily living tasks and emotional support
Support with community access, activities, appointments and social engagement Use positive behaviour support approaches to maintain wellbeing and reduce distress
Work collaboratively with families, professionals and the wider support team
Maintain accurate records, safeguarding practices and professional boundaries
Contribute to a warm, stable and enabling home environmentEssential Experience & Knowledge
Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities
Understanding of supported living, person‑centred care and positive risk‑taking Knowledge of PBS, communication strategies and independence‑focused support
Ability to work confidently in a 24‑hour service, including sleep‑ins or waking nights Strong communication skills and a calm, resilient approach
Commitment to promoting autonomy, wellbeing and community inclusionDesirable NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care
Experience supporting individuals with complex needs or behaviours of concern Training in safeguarding, medication administration or autism awareness

Duties
- Assist clients with daily activities such as personal care, mobility, and household tasks
- Develop and implement tailored care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals and families
- Support clients in attending appointments, social activities, and community events, including driving when necessary
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent care delivery
- Monitor and record progress, behaviour, and any changes in health status accurately
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for clients at all times
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to promote confidence and independence
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable
- Valid driving licence and ability to drive clients safely when required
- Knowledge learning disabilities and practices and understanding of care plans is advantageous
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with clients, families, and team members
- Basic IT skills for documentation and reporting purposes
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to support others’ wellbeing
- Ability to work flexibly across various shifts as needed
