Upton Barn & Walled Garden is one of Devon's leading wedding and event venues, creating exceptional weddings, private events and corporate events in a unique countryside setting.
We are looking for two enthusiastic, organised and customer-focused Wedding & Event Assistants to join our growing team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within the weddings and events industry. Working alongside our experienced management team, you'll gain hands-on experience across every stage of the client journey, from venue viewings and wedding planning through to event delivery.

As a venue that hosts weddings and events throughout the week, this is a full-time role (40 hours per week) working five days from seven, including regular evenings, weekends and bank holidays in line with the wedding and events calendar. Flexibility is essential.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Weddings & Events Team throughout the planning and delivery of weddings, private events and corporate events.
- Prepare planning documentation, function sheets, event briefings and client paperwork with a high level of accuracy.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, client files and event documentation.
- Manage departmental administration, including correspondence, filing, diary management and scheduling.
- Liaise professionally with clients, suppliers and colleagues to ensure event information is accurate and up to date.
- Support venue viewings, planning meetings and client appointments.
- Assist with ceremony preparations, venue set-up and event logistics.
- Support the successful delivery of weddings and events on the day.
- Develop into the role of Secondary Wedding & Event Coordinator, supporting Senior Coordinators during allocated weddings and events.
- Assist with Health & Safety documentation, compliance records and operational administration.
- Support venue inspections, operational checklists and routine business documentation.
- Contribute ideas that improve systems, efficiency and the overall client experience.
Skills & Experience
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and computer systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- A professional, positive and proactive approach.
- A passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
- Confidence working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Previous administration, hospitality, weddings or events experience would be advantageous.
- Experience using CRM systems or hospitality software would be beneficial.
- A genuine desire to build a long-term career within the weddings and events industry.
- Flexibility to work a 40-hour week over five days from seven, including regular evenings, weekends and bank holidays, as required by the wedding and events calendar.
