Homes Residential Care is seeking Residential Care Workers for our children’s home in Birmingham. We provide exceptional residential care for children and young people aged 8-17 who face emotional and behavioural challenges. Job Summary
As a Residential Care Worker, you will play a crucial role in the daily care and support of children and young people in our residential home. This role entails collaborating with a team to create a safe, nurturing, and positive atmosphere that addresses the physical, emotional, and social needs of each child. We seek a compassionate individual with a sincere commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities
Care and Support
- Provide direct care and supervision to children and young people, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Develop supportive relationships with children, functioning as a role model while fostering trust and respect.
- Assist in crafting and executing individualized care plans tailored to each child's specific needs.
- Aid children in gaining life skills, independence, and confidence through organized activities and daily routines.
Safeguarding and Compliance
- Follow all safeguarding policies and procedures, reporting any concerns immediately to the relevant authorities.
- Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations, the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and the Quality Standards.
- Keep accurate and current records, including daily logs, incident reports, and care plan documentation.
Communication and Collaboration
- Work in partnership with colleagues, external professionals, and families to support the welfare of children and young people.
- Engage in team meetings, supervision sessions, and training opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with children, tailoring communication styles to accommodate individual needs and abilities.
Behaviour Management
- Use positive behaviour support techniques to address challenging behaviors.
- Implement de-escalation methods and encourage conflict resolution skills among children.
- Foster emotional and psychological well-being by providing a stable and supportive setting for children.
Additional Responsibilities
- Help with household tasks such as meal preparation, cleaning, and organizing activities.
- Participate in outings, educational trips, and recreational activities with the children.
- Maintain flexibility in working hours to accommodate the needs of the homes.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children and families
- Experience working with children in a residential or childcare setting
- Ability to develop and implement care plans tailored to individual needs
- Proficiency in IT for maintaining records and documentation related to care plans
Remuneration
- £14 per hour
