Job Purpose
To provide a comprehensive catering service for all residents, employees, and visitors to the care home. Holding overall responsibility to assist the Head Chef with the daily operations of the catering department.
Maintain a clean, safe working environment in accordance with agreed standards, legislative requirements, relevant regulations, in line with accepted best practice and within the financial plans agreed.
To actively participate within your role in a service that is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led
Main Responsibilities:
· To prepare, cook and present meals for residents, employees and visitors.
· To have in depth knowledge of the IDDSI framework.
· To be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in devising and maintaining rotational menus to provide choice for service users within an agreed budget.
· To ensure dietary needs and preferences of residents are met, and that each meal time service is delivered to the highest quality.
· To ensure that proper standards of cleanliness are maintained, to exercise due diligence regarding food safety and to ensure that hygiene and food handling regulations are strictly adhered to at all times.
· To ensure adequate and safe storage of all kitchen provisions and equipment.
· To comply with the requirements of HACCP and ensure that all daily, weekly and monthly records are kept as required.
· To comply with thorough and regular cleaning of the kitchen and its fixtures, fittings and equipment and ensure high standards of hygiene are maintained at all times.
· To promptly report all mechanical defects and hazards to the Maintenance Manager and Home Director
· Support the implementation, orientation and induction of new employees.
· Be responsible for developing own skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of others.
· Attend all statutory and mandatory training sessions, to comply with professional/legislative requirements.
Experience:
2 years’ experience of catering in a similar environment
Can demonstrate an understanding of specialist dietary needs of residents
Knowledge/Qualifications:
706-1/2or level 2/3 in professional cooking
Level 2/3 in food Hygiene
